Children’s Dentistry

Caring for Little Smiles

At Riverview Dental, we believe a lifetime of healthy smiles starts early. Our friendly team is experienced in looking after children’s dental needs — from their very first visit to caring for their growing smiles as they move through childhood and adolescence.

We focus on making each visit fun, positive and stress-free, helping your child feel comfortable and confident in the dental chair.

What dental services do we offer for children?

We provide a full range of children’s dental services, including:

  • First dental check-ups

  • Regular examinations and cleans

  • Fissure sealants to protect against cavities

  • Fillings if needed

  • Custom-fitted mouthguards for sports

  • Advice on thumb-sucking and oral hygiene habits

  • Early detection and management of orthodontic issues

By introducing good dental habits early and spotting potential problems before they become bigger concerns, we aim to set your child up for a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums.

Children’s mouthguards

If your child plays contact sports like football, hockey, or basketball, a custom-fitted mouthguard is one of the best investments you can make in protecting their smile.

Unlike store-bought versions, our mouthguards are specially made to fit your child’s mouth, offering:

  • Superior comfort and breathability

  • Protection from dental injuries

  • Help in reducing the risk of jaw and soft tissue injuries

Wearing a professionally fitted mouthguard can save your child from serious injury — and you from costly emergency dental treatment.

Making dental visits enjoyable

We understand that visiting the dentist can sometimes feel a little daunting for kids. That’s why we work hard to create a relaxed, friendly environment.

We take the time to explain what we’re doing in simple, child-friendly terms, and we love celebrating small milestones — whether it’s a first wobbly tooth or a great check-up.

Our goal is to help children see dental care as a normal (and even fun!) part of life.

When should children first see a dentist?

We recommend that children have their first dental visit by the time their first tooth appears, or by their first birthday — whichever comes first. Early visits help:

  • Check that teeth are coming through properly

  • Monitor jaw development

  • Build a positive relationship with dental care

Starting early gives your child the best chance of maintaining a healthy, happy smile well into adulthood.
