CEREC One-Visit Crowns

At our practice we offer the convenience of a one-visit, computer generated crowns with the latest CEREC technology.

What is CEREC?

CEREC is sophisticated digital technology including a camera, design software and milling machine. If you are wondering where the word comes from, it is an abbreviation of CERamic REConstruction.

It provides us with computer-aided design (CAD), and computer-aided manufacture (CAM) technology right here in the surgery.

What are the benefits of this technology

  • You can have your crown in one visit
  • No return visit, less time off work or study or away from family
  • Only one visit so only one injection!
  • No dark lines or metal under the crown

New technology for a strong, beautiful new tooth

After you have a CEREC filling or crown, your restored tooth will have up to 95% of the strength it had before. Ceramic crowns are colour matched to your own teeth to give a beautiful, natural-looking result.

Why are CEREC restorations better than traditional crowns

Traditional crowns are made in a laboratory which are typically in a different location from your dental practice. You will usually need two appointments that are two weeks apart.

Note that there are some cases when a traditional crown may be the best option, and we will discuss this with you.

Is a CEREC restoration suitable for me?

As with all dental treatments, your dentist will need to assess your particular tooth and the best crown for the job. In most cases a CEREC-designed and made crown will be suitable and can be made and fitted in one visit. However, some cases may need off-site lab made crowns. Your dentist will discuss the best option for your particular needs with you.

When your tooth has been restored with a CEREC filling or crown, you will be able to use it just as before. Ceramic crowns are colour-matched to your own teeth to give a beautiful, natural-looking result.
